About artist

Kateryna is a fine art and fashion photographer from Ukraine.

She started her photography path as a model on the other side of the lens. Kateryna says this previous experience of hers greatly complements the vision of her shot - she feels her future photograph from the very inside and can convey the exact vision to the model. The model's past also is her fuel for fashion interest. Being a dancer, she finds her passion in art and movement as well.

Her works are enigmatic and enchanting. Kateryna defines her art style as impressionism. Her source of inspiration is the moment of creation, the mystery of the fluctuating nature of light and creative flow. Edgar Degas’s quote perfectly aligns with her vision: «Daylight is too easy, and what I want is difficult - the atmosphere of lamps and moonlight.»

That's the main reason for her immense passion for underwater photography. You can feel this impressionistic water and light movement in her underwater photographs. Here is the bloom of artistic philosophy of catching the exact moment with all its beauty - with the water flows and changes, you can't predict the detailed image you will have. Kateryna calls her underwater models Nereides - ancient greeks nymphs.

Her art is strongly influenced by Renaissance, Modernism and the terrific impact of Ukrainian folklore. “I grew up with characters from fairytales that my grandma told me, and they are so embroidered into me, oddly and chaotically combined with world art,” - she says.
